Asian markets end lower after Italy rejects constitutional changes

Asian stock markets closed lower on Monday after Italian voters' rejected constitutional changes, raising questions over whether Italy will stay in the European Union and keep using the euro.

Japan's benchmark index, Nikkei 225 declined 151.09 points or 0.82 percent to settle at 18,274.99. China's benchmark index, Shanghai Composite declined 39.13 points or 1.21 percent to close at 3,204.71. Hong Kong's Hang Seng declined 59.27 points or 0.26 percent to end at 22,505.55.

South Korea's KOSPI declined 7.25 points or 0.37 percent to end at 1,963.36. Taiwan's TAIEX declined 28.83 points or 0.31 percent to end at 9,160.66.

On the other hand, Singapore's Straits Times gained 23.68 points or 0.81 percent to end at 2,943.05.
