Asian stock markets settled higher on Tuesday as investors looked ahead to minutes from the U.S. Federal Reserve's latest meeting and Wall Street prepared to reopen after a three-day weekend.
Japan's benchmark index, Nikkei 225 went up 130.36 points or 0.68 percent to settle at 19,381.44. China's benchmark index, Shanghai Composite gained 13.36 points or 0.41 percent to close at 3,253.33.
South Korea's KOSPI rose 18.54 points or 0.89 percent to end at 2,102.93. Taiwan's TAIEX gained 10.73 points or 0.11 percent to end at 9,763.93.
On the other hand, Hong Kong's Hang Seng declined 182.45 points or 0.76 percent to end at 23,963.63. Singapore's Straits Times fell 2.50 points or 0.08 percent to end at 3,094.19.
