Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) were net buyers in the equity segment worth Rs 566.7 million on both BSE, NSE and MCX-SX on March 20, as per provisional data available at the BSE. They bought equities worth Rs 49.31 billion and sold equities worth Rs 48.74 billion.
On the other hand, domestic institutional investors (DIIs), which include banks, DFIs, insurance and MFs, were net sellers in the equity segment worth Rs 5.36 billion. They bought equities worth Rs 21.73 billion and sold equities worth Rs 27.09 billion.
Local stock markets ended lower on Monday erasing earlier gains. At the close, the benchmark 30-share index, BSE Sensex declined 130.25 or 0.44% at 29,518.74 with 17 components posting drop. Meanwhile, the broad based NSE Nifty went down by 33.20 or 0.36% at 9,126.85 with 31 components posting drop.
