Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) were net sellers in the equity segment worth Rs 4.83 billion on both BSE, NSE and MCX-SX on October 9, as per provisional data available at the BSE. They bought equities worth Rs 35.94 billion and sold equities worth Rs 31.10 billion.
Also, domestic institutional investors (DIIs), which include banks, DFIs, insurance and MFs, were net sellers in the equity segment worth Rs 3.69 billion. They bought equities worth Rs 15.83 billion and sold equities worth Rs 19.52 billion.
Local stock markets ended sharply higher on Friday tracking strong global cues. At the close, the benchmark 30-share index, BSE Sensex gained 233.70 points or 0.87% at 27,079.51. Meanwhile, the broad based NSE Nifty went up by 60.35 points or 0.74% at 8,189.70.
