Asian stock markets closed mixed on Thursday. Japan's benchmark index, Nikkei 225 lost 135.08 points or 0.78 percent to settle at 17,248.50.

While China's benchmark index, Shanghai Composite went up 26.14 points or 1 percent to close at 2,630.49. Hong Kong's Hang Seng lost 107.70 points or 0.45 percent to end at 24,004.28.

Singapore's Straits Times fell 4.73 points or 0.14 percent to end at 3,344.93. South Korea's KOSPI went up 1.25 points or 0.06 percent to end at 1,982.09. Taiwan's TAIEX rose 42.92 points or 0.47 percent to end at 9,165.31.
