Asian stock markets closed higher on Friday as minutes from the US Federal Reserve's September meeting bolstered hopes of a Fed rate hike delay, with investors resuming buying of energy shares along with a rise in crude oil futures.
Japan's benchmark index, Nikkei 225 went up 297.50 points or 1.64 percent to settle at 18,438.67. China's benchmark index, Shanghai Composite went up 39.79 points or 1.27 percent to close at 3,183.15.
Hong Kong's Hang Seng gained 103.89 points or 0.46 percent to end at 22,458.80. Singapore's Straits Times gained 51.47 points or 1.75 percent to end at 2,998.50. South Korea's KOSPI gained 13.69 points or 0.68 percent to end at 2,019.53.
On the other hand, Taiwan's TAIEX lost 49.27 points or 0.58 percent to end at 8,445.96.
