Indian markets ended flat on Wednesday erasing earlier gains. At the close, the 30-share benchmark index, BSE Sensex ended flat with a decline of 2.50 points or 0.01% at 35,141.99 with 17 components registering drop. while the broad based NSE Nifty closed flat with a decline of 6.20 points or 0.06%, at 10,576.30 with 28 components posting drop.
Biggest losers in the 30-share index were Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (7.36%), Kotak Mahindra Bank (3.04%), Tata Consultancy Services (2.85%), Mahindra & Mahindra (2.62%), Infosys (1.84%), and Tata Motors (1.67%).
On the other hand, Maruti Suzuki India (3.16%), Asian Paints (2.73%), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (2.72%), Tata Power Company (2.57%), State Bank Of India (2.00%), and Hindustan Unilever (1.91%) were the biggest gainers in the Sensex.
Market breadth was negative with 1,071 advances against 1,254 declines.
State Bank Of India topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 2,083.47 million. It was followed by Ashok Leyland (Rs. 890.42 million), Hindustan Petroleum Corporation (Rs. 520.89 million) and Reliance Industries (Rs. 460.45 million).
The volume chart was led by Birla Power Solutions with trades of over 12.09 million shares. It was followed by Ashok Leyland (8.35 million), State Bank Of India (7.34 million) and Sam Leaseco (4.22 million).
