Indian equities ended flat on Tuesday. Both Sensex and Nifty traded at a new life time high. At the close, the 30-share benchmark index, BSE Sensex ended flat with a rise of 7.00 points or 0.02% at 38,285.75, 15 components posting rise. Meanwhile, the broad based NSE Nifty climbed by 19.15 or 0.17% at 11,570.90 with 23 components posting rise.
Biggest gainers in the 30-share index were Axis Bank (1.92%), NTPC (1.70%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (1.69%), and Wipro (1.48%).
On the other hand, Tata Steel (2.86%), Hindustan Unilever (1.30%), Mahindra & Mahindra (1.12%), Bharti Airtel (0.72%), Kotak Mahindra Bank (0.66%), and Asian Paints (0.48%) were the biggest losers in the Sensex.
Market breadth was negative with 1,210 advances against 1,241 declines.
HDFC FMP - 3360 D - March 2014 (1) - Series 30 - Regular Plan - Growth topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 914.88 million. It was followed by Ramco Cements , The (Rs. 856.79 million), Reliance Industries (Rs. 533.47 million) and Westlife Development (Rs. 520.06 million).
The volume chart was led by HDFC FMP - 3360 D - March 2014 (1) - Series 30 - Regular Plan - Growth with trades of over 70.76 million shares. It was followed by Jaiprakash Associates (17.49 million), Reliance Communications (10.51 million) and Hindustan Construction Company (9.31 million).
