Indian equities continued to rise for the second day on Friday. Both Sensex and Nifty were trading above 1-month high. At 9.39 a.m, the Sensex was trading up 168.15 points or 0.48% at 35,428.69 with 22 components gaining. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading higher by 40.70 points or 0.38% at 10,657.40 with 33 components gaining.
Major gainers in the 30-share index were Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (1.65%), Cipla (1.54%), Wipro (1.22%), HDFC Bank (1.20%), Reliance Industries (1.19%), and Axis Bank (1.13%).
On the other hand, Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (3.18%), Infosys (1.52%), Tata Steel (1.15%), Tata Power Company (0.65%), Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (0.39%), and Hindustan Unilever (0.04%) were the biggest losers in the Sensex.
Market breadth was negative with 735 advances against 564 declines.
Alstone Textiles (India) topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 0.00 million. It was followed by MindTree (Rs. 1,438.12 million), Jet Airways (India) (Rs. 1,016.93 million) and Ipca Laboratories (Rs. 454.19 million).
The volume chart was led by Jet Airways (India) with trades of over 2.95 million shares. It was followed by MindTree (1.70 million), Yes Bank (1.53 million) and Ipca Laboratories (0.60 million).
