Indian equities ended higher on Wednesday. At the close, the benchmark 30-share index, BSE Sensex added 629.06 or 1.79% at 35,779.07 with 27 components posting rise. Meanwhile, the broad based NSE Nifty went up by 188.45 or 1.79% at 10,737.60 with 45 components registering rise.
Major gainers in the 30-share index were Hero Motocorp (7.01%), Bharti Airtel (6.69%), Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (5.06%), Mahindra & Mahindra (3.68%), Bajaj Auto (3.54%), and Tata Motors (3.51%).
On the other hand, Dr Reddy'S Laboratories (4.14%), and Tata Power Company (0.38%) were the biggest losers in the Sensex.
Market breadth was positive with 1,693 advances against 590 declines.
Yes Bank topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 1,186.10 million. It was followed by Axis Bank (Rs. 1,108.34 million), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (Rs. 608.17 million) and Indiabulls Housing Finance (Rs. 504.66 million).
The volume chart was led by CPSE ETF with trades of over 17.66 million shares. It was followed by Reliance Communications (13.74 million), Yes Bank (6.36 million) and Birla Sun Life Fixed Term Plan - Series IL - Regular Plan - Growth (5.45 million).
