Vijaya Bank, a medium sized public sector lender, today reported a growth of 57.55% in net profit for the first quarter of fiscal year 2017. During the quarter, the net profit rose to Rs 2.54 billion as compared to Rs 1.61 billion in the same period last year.
Total income grew 6.53% to Rs 35.10 billion over Rs 32.95 billion in the same period a year ago.
Provisions and contingencies for the quarter ended June 30, 2017 were Rs 4.23 billion as against Rs 2.67 billion.
The gross non-performing assets (NPAs) of the bank fell slightly to 7.30% of the gross advances as on June 30, 2017 from a level of 7.31% a year ago. Besides, Bank's Net NPA stood at 5.24% in Q1FY18.
Net NPA value was Rs 47.84 billion compared with Rs 47.92 billion a year ago.
Shares of the bank gained Rs 0.1, or 0.14%, to trade at Rs 73.40. The total volume of shares traded was 434,300 at the BSE (1.40 p.m., Monday).
