Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) announced that it is partnering with SAP to build the Intelligent Rail Digital Maintenance (iRDM) solution, powered by SAP Leonardo, to help rail customers digitally transform their businesses.

TCS' iRDM Solution leverages cutting edge technologies including Internet ofThings, machine learning, advanced analytics, big data, drones and mobility components of SAP Leonardo to carry out drone based safety inspections, remote monitoring of the condition of all asset classes, including rolling stock, tracks, structures and way side equipment, and perform predictive maintenance to prevent critical component failures. The Solution's digital asset maintenance functionality integrates with customers' enterprise asset management processes.

The new solution is expected to improve safety, reduce unplanned outages, enhance efficiency and reduce capital equipment investments by extending the useful life of assets.

"The iRDM solution leverages our 40+ years of rail industry experience across the breadth and depth of core railways functions to enable our rail customers to digitally transform their asset maintenance and repair processes. The solution can help our customers realize significant business benefits, improve safety and asset availability, increase visibility and facilitate the adoption of standardized global best practices across the organization," said Siva Ganesan, Vice President, Travel Transportation and Hospitality Business Group, TCS.
