Indian markets continued to rise for the second day on Monday. Both Sensex and Nifty were trading at a new life time high. At 12.50 p.m, the Sensex was trading up 218.23 points or 0.68% at 32,247.12 with 20 components gaining. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading higher by 51.45 points or 0.52% at 9,966.70 with 33 components gaining.
Biggest gainers in the 30-share index were Reliance Industries (2.32%), Wipro (2.01%), HDFC Bank (1.85%), ITC (1.70%), Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (1.34%), and Tata Consultancy Services (1.17%).
On the other hand, Dr Reddy'S Laboratories (2.10%), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (1.19%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (0.80%), Asian Paints (0.72%), Tata Steel (0.55%), and Tata Motors (0.26%) were the major losers in the Sensex.
Market breadth was negative with 1,345 advances against 992 declines.
Reliance Industries topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 949.79 million. It was followed by Jaiprakash Associates (Rs. 557.68 million), R*Shares Liquid BeES (Rs. 539.69 million) and BEML (Rs. 327.07 million).
The volume chart was led by Jaiprakash Associates with trades of over 19.30 million shares. It was followed by GVK Power & Infrastructure (10.44 million), Lanco Infratech (9.28 million) and Unitech (8.93 million).
