Indian markets continued to drop for the second day on Wednesday. At 9.29 a.m, the Sensex was trading down 32.53 points or 0.10% at 33,195.46 with 14 components falling. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading lower by 9.00 points or 0.09% at 10,231.15 with 27 components falling.
Biggest losers in the 30-share index were ITC (0.78%), Power Grid Corporation Of India (0.74%), Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (0.61%), State Bank Of India (0.50%), Axis Bank (0.50%), and Housing Development Finance Corporation (0.40%).
On the other hand, Bharti Airtel (1.54%), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (1.31%), Dr Reddy'S Laboratories (0.78%), Hero Motocorp (0.78%), Reliance Industries (0.65%), and Tata Motors (0.44%) were the biggest gainers in the Sensex.
Market breadth was positive with 858 advances against 592 declines.
Housing Development Finance Corporation topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 623.84 million. It was followed by Century Textiles & Industries (Rs. 73.20 million), B P L (Rs. 39.36 million) and Infosys (Rs. 34.04 million).
The volume chart was led by B P L with trades of over 0.38 million shares. It was followed by Housing Development Finance Corporation (0.37 million), CG Power and Industrial Solutions (0.20 million) and Tata FMP - Series 33 - Scheme A - Periodic Dividend (0.17 million).
