Indian markets ended higher on Monday. Both Sensex and Nifty traded above 1-month high. At the close, the benchmark 30-share index, BSE Sensex added 317.72 or 0.90% at 35,774.88 with 22 components posting rise. Meanwhile, the broad based NSE Nifty went up by 81.20 or 0.76% at 10,763.40 with 36 components posting rise.
Biggest gainers in the 30-share index were ITC (2.77%), Tata Motors (2.73%), Dr Reddy'S Laboratories (2.28%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (2.11%), Reliance Industries (1.96%), and Mahindra & Mahindra (1.69%).
On the other hand, Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (1.37%), ICICI Bank (1.33%), State Bank Of India (0.72%), NTPC (0.65%), Asian Paints (0.65%), and Bajaj Auto (0.51%) were the biggest losers in the Sensex.
Market breadth was negative with 1,218 advances against 1,153 declines.
Jet Airways (India) topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 1,174.47 million. It was followed by Yes Bank (Rs. 1,173.34 million), Kotak Mahindra Bank (Rs. 603.81 million) and Reliance Industries (Rs. 591.23 million).
The volume chart was led by Southern Ispat and Energy with trades of over 55.24 million shares. It was followed by Yes Bank (5.72 million), Vodafone Idea (4.83 million) and Infibeam Avenues (4.44 million).
