Indian markets continued to decline for the sixth day on Tuesday. At 9.37 a.m, the Sensex was trading down 41.60 points or 0.13% at 31,585.03 with 14 components falling. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading lower by 12.40 points or 0.13% at 9,860.20 with 26 components falling.
Biggest losers in the 30-share index were Asian Paints (2.49%), Hindustan Unilever (1.84%), Dr Reddy'S Laboratories (1.09%), Coal India (1.03%), State Bank Of India (0.83%), and Housing Development Finance Corporation (0.75%).
On the other hand, Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (2.34%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (1.10%), Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (0.98%), Axis Bank (0.69%), Hero Motocorp (0.67%), and Tata Motors (0.65%) were the major gainers in the Sensex.
Market breadth was positive with 836 advances against 590 declines.
Deep Industries topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 2,235.42 million. It was followed by Grasim Industries (Rs. 116.72 million), Divis Laboratories (Rs. 70.69 million) and Dewan Housing Finance Corporation (Rs. 67.45 million).
The volume chart was led by Deep Industries with trades of over 9.14 million shares. It was followed by Jaiprakash Associates (1.75 million), Monnet Ispat and Energy (1.40 million) and PMC Fincorp (1.11 million).
