In a bid to integrate conventional power with solar power and achieve the overarching goal within reasonable timeframes and to help Prime Minister's objective to provide 24x7 power to the rural population of India, the Solar Energy Society of India ( SESI) have organised a two day (Dec. 8th-9th) congress 'ICORE-2014' here in New Delhi.
ICORE 2014 will cover all aspects of new and renewable energy and will focus on Solar Energy in particular thus providing an excellent platform for renewable energy researchers, academics, policy makers and industrialists in India as well as abroad. Additionally, the congress will showcase the work potential to improve the standard of living and quality of life in villages by improving basic amenities and conveying agriculture, infrastructure, electricity through solar power, small & micro agri- industry, sanitation and hygiene, medical facilities, education among others.
''The two day conference will debate and discuss on how solar would play a role in the ambitious target set by Government of India to provide 24 /7 power to all by 2019, as recently retreated by Piyush Goyel , Union Minister for Coal & Power,'' said Prafulla Pathak, secretary general , SESI.
In its first day of ICORE-2014, Tarun Kapoor, IAS , Joint Secretary MNRE today chaired the session on 'Powering National Growth through Solar' have mentioned that The economic growth of any country is closely related to the growth of its energy consumption. This relationship is critically important for developing countries like India where the economy is growing rapidly. While, Kushal Pathak, director (SAGY) Ministry of Rural Development deliver his speech on Government perspective on ‘Saansad Adarsh Gram Yojana (SAGY)’ where he said that SAGY will keep the soul of rural India alive while providing its people with quality access to basic amenities and opportunities including 24/7 electrification.
Ajay Prakash Shrivastava, president, Maharishi Solar Technology delivered his speech on ''Skill Development Centre for Mapping Jobs & Skilling People'' where he said that how solar project in the nation will help to create more jobs. According to Shrivastava, ''Only if micro grid concept is implement throughout the nation it would generate about 1.8 million Jobs in total and atleast 3 jobs per village.'' He also mentioned that leverage of Solar Power to generate jobs through cottage industries in villages by identifying the occupation of the Rural Population and providing them skills to set up their own Micro & SSI units run on Solar Power.
