Indirect tax collections jump 32.6% in September

India's indirect tax revenue jumped 32.6% during the month of September 2015. Indirect tax collection stood at Rs 612.84 billion compared with Rs 462.24 billion in the same month last year, according to the government official.

Service tax revenue surged 35.13% in September 2015 to Rs 204.83 billion from Rs 151.58 billion in September last year. Meanwhile, central excise tax revenue jumped 68.38% in September 2015 to Rs 224.89 billion from Rs 133.56 billion in September last year.

At the same time, customs tax revenue witnessed a marginal increase of 3.40% in September 2015 to Rs 183.12 billion from Rs 177.10 billion in September last year.

During April-September, indirect tax revenue climbed 35.5% to Rs 3.24 trillion compared with Rs 2.39 trillion in the same period last year. April-September indirect tax revenue was at 50.2% of FY16 Budget Estimate.
