India's exports rise 1.3%; imports drop 7.3%

Exports from India witnessed a rise of 1.27 percent during June, 2016 to USD 22.57 billion compared with USD 22.28 billion during June, 2015. In rupee terms, exports stood at Rs. 1519.04 billion, up 6.72 percent from Rs 1423.41 billion, a year ago.

Imports have also recorded a fall of 7.33 percent in June to USD 30.68 billion from USD 33.11 billion in the same period last year. In rupee terms, imports stood at Rs. 2065.24 billion, down 2.35 percent from Rs. 2114.84 billion, a year ago.

Oil imports during June, 2016 were valued at USD 7252.11 million which was 16.42 per cent lower than oil imports valued at USD 8676.38 million in the corresponding period last year.

Meanwhile, non-oil imports during June, 2016 were estimated at USD 23.43 billion which was 4.11 per cent lower than non-oil imports of USD 24.44 billion in June, 2015.
