Consumer price inflation in India, as represented by Consumer Price Index (CPI), increases to 4.58% in April from 4.28% in the previous month. In March 2017, CPI inflation was at 2.99%. Consumer Food Price Index (CFPI) 2.80% from 2.81% in the previous month. In April 2017, CFPI inflation was at 0.61%.
Food and beverages price inflation stood at 3.00%, while prices of pan, tobacco and intoxicants went up 7.91%.
Clothing and footwear price inflation has recorded a rise of 5.11% in prices.
Fuel and light inflation has seen increase of 5.24%. Household goods and services inflation was 4.75%.
Health segment inflation was 5.54%. Transport and communication gained in inflation of 4.55%.
