NLC India conducts boiler lightup for first unit of 1000 MW NNTPP

NLC India has achieved a critical milestone towards commissioning its 1000 MW (2X500 MW) of Neyveli New Thermal Power Project (NNTPP) by successfully conducting the boiler light-up test for the First unit with secondary fuel on December 28, 2018 at Neyveli.

This is the first 500 MW lignite fired power plant in the country.Itcan generate 1000000 units of power in an hour. This power project will replace the existing more than five decades old TPS-I (600MW) atNeyveli.

The time for Boiler hydro Test and Light up is scheduled for 6 months but with vigorous efforts the Unit-I boiler hydro test was completed on 22.08.2018 and boiler light up successfully conducted on December 28, 2018 i.e with in span of 4 months against target of 6 months which itself is a big mile tone.

"The prosperous conduct of boiler light-up test augurs the readiness of the boiler for power generation process and the company has commenced the work for steam blowing and synchronization of the unit well within the scheduled timeline," The CMD & Functional Directors appreciated the efforts of senior officials' and executives for their stupendous efforts for the project.

To meet the country needs in energy sector the organization with a clear objective is now ready to deliver a state-of-the-art thermal project capable of providing sustainable and highly efficient power. The power purchase agreement were signed with Electricity Boards of Tamilnadu , Kerala, Karnataka, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Puduchchery states. 65% of power generation will be supplied to TANGEDCO of Tamilnadu.

Shares of the company gained Rs 0.35, or 0.5%, to trade at Rs 70.05. The total volume of shares traded was 23,169 at the BSE (12.29 p.m., Monday).
