Maruti Suzuki India, India's leading passenger vehicle manufacturer, reported 1.3 per cent decrease in total sales at 128,338 units in December against 130,066 units in the year-ago month.
The company said, ''Domestic sales stood at 121,479 units, up 1.8 per cent from 119,286 units in December last year.''
The company's exports were down 36.4 per cent to 6,859 units as compared with 10,780 units in the same period last year.
The stock had underperformed the market over the past one month till Dec. 31, 2018, falling 0.72% compared with the Sensex's 0.35% decline. It outperformed the market in past one quarter, gaining 2.18% as against 0.44% fall in the Sensex.
Shares of the company declined Rs 37.9, or 0.51%, to trade at Rs 7,424.40. The total volume of shares traded was 91,284 at the BSE (10.44 a.m., Tuesday).
