Hero MotoCorp sales decline 3.4% in April'17

Hero MotoCorp, the world's largest two-wheeler manufacturer, despatched 591,306 units of two-wheelers, down 3.4% in the month of April 2017.

The company had despatched 612,739 units in the corresponding month last year. The two-wheeler industry witnessed heavy retail off-take towards the end of March 2017 in view of the transition from BS III to BS IV vehicles. With the ongoing marriage season, the Company expects to maintain the trend of robust retail sales in May.

The company raised the prices-ranging from Rs 500 to Rs 2200-across different models to partially offset the commodity cost increases, effective from May.

In recognition of its rapid global expansion, the All India Management Association (ALMA) has acknowledged Hero MotoCorp as the 'Indian MNC of the Year'.

 In just six years since commencing its solo journey, Pawan Munjal-led Hero MotoCorp has emerged as a true Indian MNC, with its global presence now in 35 countries spread across Asia, Africa and Central and South America.

Shares of the company gained Rs 53.3, or 1.61%, to trade at Rs 3,364.00. The total volume of shares traded was 4,932 at the BSE (10.21 a.m., Tuesday).
