Indian equities opened on a flat note with positive bias on Tuesday tracking mixed global cues. At 9.08 a.m., the Sensex was trading up 37.81 points or 0.14% at 27,214.80 with 17 components gaining. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading higher by 26.70 points or 0.33% at 8,240.50 with 29 components gaining.
Biggest gainers in the 30-share index were Hindustan Unilever (1%), Maruti Suzuki India (0.77%), G A I L (India) (0.73%), Housing Development Finance Corporation (0.67%), Tata Power Company (0.58%), and I C I C I Bank (0.53%).
On the other hand, Bharti Airtel (1.26%), Mahindra & Mahindra (0.65%), Coal India (0.57%), Sesa Sterlite (0.43%), Cipla (0.41%), and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (0.31%) were the major losers in the Sensex.
The Oil & Gas index was at 9,176.71, up by 23.25 points or by 0.25%. The Bankex index was at 20,431.77, up by 33.38 points or by 0.16%. On the other hand, the Metal index was at 9,974.09, down by 16.5 points or by 0.17%.
