Indian equities ended flat on Wednesday. At the close, the 30-share benchmark index, BSE Sensex ended flat with a rise of 27.75 points or 0.09% at 32,186.41, 12 components registering rise. Meanwhile, the broad based NSE Nifty went down by 13.75 or 0.14% at 10,079.30 with 32 components posting drop.
Major gainers in the 30-share index were Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (5.28%), Tata Power Company (5.00%), Reliance Industries (3.85%), Dr Reddy'S Laboratories (2.37%), Tata Motors (0.90%), and Axis Bank (0.70%).
On the other hand, ITC (2.18%), Cipla (1.14%), Housing Development Finance Corporation (0.95%), Hero Motocorp (0.70%), Wipro (0.65%), and Tata Steel (0.53%) were the biggest losers in the Sensex.
Market breadth was negative with 981 advances against 1,500 declines.
Tata Power Company topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 313.02 million. It was followed by I T C (Rs. 271.95 million), Tata Steel (Rs. 172.92 million) and Suzlon Energy (Rs. 123.02 million).
The volume chart was led by Suzlon Energy with trades of over 7.22 million shares. It was followed by G M R Infrastructure (4.99 million), Tata Power Company (3.68 million) and Housing Development and Infrastructure (1.52 million).
