Indian markets dropped on Tuesday erasing earlier gains. At 10.49 a.m, the Sensex was trading down 141.26 points or 0.46% at 30,429.71 with 20 components falling. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading lower by 43.20 points or 0.46% at 9,395.05 with 39 components falling.
Biggest losers in the 30-share index were Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (7.15%), GAIL (India) (4.26%), Cipla (3.59%), Bharat Heavy Electricals (2.81%), Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (2.53%), and Tata Power Company (2.32%).
On the other hand, Maruti Suzuki India (2.54%), Wipro (1.21%), Hindustan Unilever (0.90%), ICICI Bank (0.87%), Tata Consultancy Services (0.54%), and Infosys (0.30%) were the major gainers in the Sensex.
Market breadth was negative with 288 advances against 1,819 declines.
Aegis Logistics topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 448.13 million. It was followed by H C L Technologies (Rs. 376.05 million), Sagar Cements (Rs. 344.84 million) and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (Rs. 340.42 million).
The volume chart was led by Suzlon Energy with trades of over 8.06 million shares. It was followed by Spicejet (2.56 million), Aegis Logistics (2.41 million) and Jaiprakash Associates (2.41 million).
