Sensex ends 150 points higher; Nifty settles at 10,791

Indian markets ended higher on Thursday. At the close, the benchmark 30-share index, BSE Sensex added 150.57 or 0.42% at 35,929.64 with 17 components posting rise. Meanwhile, the broad based NSE Nifty climbed by 53.95 or 0.50% at 10,791.55 with 29 components registering rise.

Biggest gainers in the 30-share index were Wipro (2.64%), Infosys (2.62%), Kotak Mahindra Bank (2.56%), Maruti Suzuki India (2.18%), Larsen & Toubro (1.77%), and Tata Motors (1.56%).

On the other hand, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (2.12%), Tata Consultancy Services (1.74%), Tata Steel (1.57%), Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (1.01%), Coal India (0.91%), and Asian Paints (0.64%) were the major losers in the Sensex.

Market breadth was negative with 1,334 advances against 949 declines.

CPSE ETF topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 2,265.83 million. It was followed by Yes Bank (Rs. 1,889.73 million), Indiabulls Housing Finance (Rs. 1,067.96 million) and Larsen & Toubro (Rs. 798.45 million).

The volume chart was led by CPSE ETF with trades of over 98.26 million shares. It was followed by Reliance Communications (13.95 million), Yes Bank (10.82 million) and Essar Steel (6.44 million).
