Cairn India, one of the largest independent oil and gas exploration and production companies in India reported a marginal increase of 1% in the average gross production at 207,538 barrels of oil equivalent per day (boepd) for the first half of FY16 (H1FY16).

The company said, 'The increase in production was mainly driven by consistent performance of offshore assets-Ravva and Cambay, through effective reservoir management practices and better than expected results from Ravva infill drilling campaign.'

The company's average gross operated production for second quarter of FY16 increased by 6% at 205,361 boepd. Also, the company's working interest production for second quarter grew by 4% at 128,021 boepd.

'The increase in production was due to robust inline reservoir performance in Mangala and production from additional infill wells in the Aishwariya field,' it said.

The gas production from the RDG field in second quarter increased to an average rate of 30 million standard cubic feet per day (mmscfd) from 19 mmscfd in the previous quarter largely on account of optimization of existing infrastructure.

The company's offshore asset ie Ravva registered 27% increase in production to 26,064 boepd due to consistently higher gas production and effective infill drilling campaign and prudent reservoir management.

Cambay, the second offshore asset saw a production growth of 5% driven by effective reservoir management practices including well intervention campaign undertaken in the last quarter.

Shares of the company lost Rs 0.40, or 0.59%, to trade at Rs 168.50. The total volume of shares traded was 77,622 at the BSE (1.35 p.m., Friday).
