Yes Bank, one of the leading private sector banks, has been selected as an index component of the Dow Jones Sustainability Indices (DJSI) in the Emerging Markets index.

The bank said, "116 banks from emerging economies were invited to participate, of which Yes Bank is the only Indian Bank to have been included. The selection is effective from Sept. 21, 2015 and valid for one year."

The index comprises of 92 companies from 14 emerging economies including China, Brazil, South Africa and Taiwan.

Launched in 1999, the DJSI are the longest-running sustainability benchmarks globally that follow a best-in-class approach to measure the performance of global sustainability leaders. It is a part of the S&P Dow Jones Indices, the world’s largest global resource for index-based concepts, data and research.

Shares of the bank gained Rs 6.8, or 0.94%, to trade at Rs 731.00. The total volume of shares traded was 216,934 at the BSE (1.04 p.m., Tuesday).
