SAIL quarterly profit falls 26.15%

Steel Authority Of India disclosed a steep drop in standalone net profit for the quarter ended March 2015. During the quarter, the profit of the company declined 26.15% to Rs 3,342.20 million from Rs 4,525.80 million in the same quarter last year.

Total income for the quarter declined 13.29% to Rs 118,643.70 million, compared with Rs 136,835.60 million for the prior year period.

Earnings per share for the quarter stood at Rs 0.81, registering 26.36% decline over previous year period.

The board of directors today recommended a final dividend of Rs. 0.25 a share, in addition to the interim dividend of Rs. 1.75 a share already paid, for the financial year 2014-15, thus taking the total dividend to Rs. 2 a share of face value of Rs. 10 a share, subject to approval of sheholders in the AGM.
