Punj Lloyd, engaged into engineering, procurement and construction (EPC), today won projects worth Rs 4.88 billion in the power sector for rural electrification of three districts in the state of Odisha.

The company said, "Awarded by the Power Grid Corporation of India (PGCIL), the order is to provide electricity in the districts of Jajpur, Khorda and Ganjam under the Rajiv Gramin Vidyutikaran Yojna (RGGVY) -12TH plan."

"The scope of the work includes the augmentation of the existing 33/11 kV s/s, construction of 11 Kv outgoing bay, construction of new 11 kv line, LT lines, installation of distribution transformers and service connection to BPL consumers," it added.

Commenting on the company's first accomplishment in the T&D space, C K Thakur, President and CEO, Punj Llyod said, "With the Government's vision of 'Power for all', impetus is being given to the electrification of villages. The company is proud to play this important role in building a strong power delivery system."

Along with these two T&D projects, Punj Llyod has also won its first power project from BHEL for the civil, structural and architectural work of the non plant works and raw water reservoir, roads and drains at the 800 MW Kothagudem Thermal Power Project in Khammam district in Telangana.

The company's order backlog stands at Rs 214.66 bn.

Shares of the company gained Rs 1.75, or 6.96%, to trade at Rs 26.90 at the BSE (12.08 p.m., Wednesday).
