NTPC's board of directors has accorded investment approval for Talaipalli Coal Mining Project (18 million tonnes per annum) at an appraised current estimated cost of Rs 30.04 billion.

Total volume of shares traded on the bourses today was lower by 86.17% to 816,979 compared with 22-day average volume of 5,905,627.

NTPC is an Indian central Public Sector Undertaking (PSU) under the Ministry of Power, Government of India, engaged in the business of generation of electricity and allied activities.

Shares of the company gained Rs 1.2, or 0.73%, to trade at Rs 164.75. The total volume of shares traded was 43,708 at the BSE (12.45 p.m., Tuesday).
