Sun Pharmaceutical Industries, an international, integrated, speciality pharmaceutical company, said that the company has faced class action suit in US over 2009 plant closures, with no material impact on the operations and performance of the company.
The company clarified, "We confirm that this is regarding a decision from the 6th US Circuit Court of Appeals in a class action lawsuit by some former employees of our US subsidiary company in US following the shutdown of company's subsidiary's Michigan facility."
"There is no material impact of the said judgement on the operations and performance of the company. We are not aware of any information which has not been announced to the exchanges," it added.
Earlier, BSE had sought clarification from Sun Pharmaceutical Industries with reference to the news appeared in a leading daily on Aug 28, 2015 captioned "A class action suit filed against a Sun Pharma subsidiary arm Caraco Pharmaceutical Laboratories in US by workers." "Sun Pharma faces class action suit in US over 2009 plant closures."
Shares of the company gained Rs 21.05, or 2.38%, to trade at Rs 906.00. The total volume of shares traded was 202,756 at the BSE (1.20 p.m., Monday).
