Safflower seed is the fruit of the safflower flower. Safflower is also known as Dyer's Saffron, American Saffron, Fake Saffron, Flores Carthami and Bastard Saffron.
Oil content varies from 29 to 36 percent, depending on the variety, soil, climate and other conditions. India and China are the only major producers of Safflower in the world.

1.Safflower seed is used in bird feeds in the US.
2.The seeds are edible and eaten after roasting. Safflower petals are of great medicinal value and find use in curing skin diseases, hypertension, muscular arthritis and joint pains, jaundice and viral fever, etc.
3.It is used mainly as cooking oil, in salad dressing, and for the production of margarine.
